Discovery Point Pinot Noir 2016 750ml

The Martinborough district is bordered on all sides by Mountain ranges that create a “rain shadow” that has the effect of extending the “hang-time” needed to ripen the grapes to a state of perfect balance. 
Sourced from mature vines on the upper terrace, just outside the village, 20% of whole bunches were included in one open fermenter. The remaining fruit was de-stemmed but not crushed. All grapes were cold macerated pre-ferment to ensure maximum color extraction and spicy aromatic complexity. Natural/indigenous ferment started after 5 days and was allowed to peak at 35 degrees. 
 
The wine had 15 days post ferment and was pressed off and run to 1-2-year-old French barries were rested before blending and bottling.
